Don't know about the rest of you, but I can see Mr. Connelly's novels on the big screen, and would love to adapt them into screenplays. When the time comes for casting, I believe Jodie Foster would make a great Agent Rachel Walling.

Love your works Michael.

Well, Jody Foster has kind of done the whole FBI agent pursuing serial killers thing, hasn't she? I thought the woman they found for the Scarecrow video extras was actually not bad, even though I always kind of pictured her as an Agent Scully type myself.

Yeah, Jodie has that hard but sexy look to her. Rachel is right up her alley.

Jodie would be a rather unimaginative choice, wouldn't it?  She probably wouldn't find the role very interesting or challenging to play.

But I don't have any brilliant choices in mind.

I like the actress they used in the shorts they made for The Scarecrow that were on MC's site.  I don't know her name or what else she has been in but when I saw her, I thought yes, that is exactly how I pictured Rachel, and her not being known to me helped a great deal.  I wouldn't like to see someone as famous as Jodie Foster playing Rachel.

Agent Rachel Walling is my favorite character in Michael's novels. I've posted quite a few actresses who I feel could fit the role of Rachel Walling in a movie and here they are: Angelina Jolie, Lena Headey, Paige Brewster, Austin Highsmith and ofcourse Emily Blunt. Who thinks any of these actresses could portray Agent Walling?

Michael, please let Rachel Walling have her own series like Harry, Jack and the others who have their own novels as the leading character. Rachel is like a supporting character because she's not the main protagonist in novels featuring her, which sorta sucks because she's quite an amazing character with alot of amazing qualities. She should have her own series with others being featured instead of her. I love Rachel Walling.

SPOILER!

Rachel is my favorite character in MC novels but it would make for an interesting plot if he perhaps wrote a new novel featuring Rachel and Harry where someone abducts Rachel and holds her hostage while Bosch risks his life to save her. Also, he could have it where the abductor turned out to be one of Wesley Carver's lackies. I think that would make an interesting storyline for a novel.

I like Rachel Walling, but she's not exactly my fav.  I like Mickey and Jack more.  I don't know if Rachel as a character can pull off her own series...though I would be interested to see.

I love Rachel Walling too! I hope to see a novel where she and Jack team up as "Walling and McEvoy Discreet Investigators" as they joked about in the Scarecrow!

MC also writes good books with females leads. I really liked Cassie Black in Void Moon. I feel that Cassie and Rachel are very very similar women on the two sides of law! They really hold their own in the male dominated world of criminals and law enforcement!

Rachel Walling is my favorite female lead character of Michael's books. She's a tough FBI agent who can hold her own, but she needs her own series. I would love to see Rachel as the main protagonist in a MC novel. Does anyone know if in any of Michael's books, did it mention Rachel having a sister or any other family? Just curious.

From what I can recall, Rachel only had her father and he is dead.  You can find out how and why in The Poet.

Thank you Chrissy. I haven't had the pleasure of reading The Poet yet. Those out of print novels are hard to come by these days. But I really want to read The Poet and also BloodWork and The OverLook. Also The Last Coyote. Michael Connelly is a great and talented writer. I've read 5 of his novels which isn't alot.

If you like Rachel, you really should read The Poet, a lot of her history and explanations about why she is the way she is are revealed in The Poet, its probably the most indepth portrayal of her in any of MC's books.

IMO she belongs with Jack, not Harry.

I agree.  She wasn't Harry's "single bullet".  It seems as though her heart is with Jack.

I think Rachel is a good supporting character, but I don't know about a whole book series about her.  I would read it, but it's not something I'm particularly interested in seeing.

Not everyone agrees that Rachel should have her own series but I would love to see it happen and not only that, but would love to see a movie based on a novel with her in it and bring her character to the big screen. I personally feel that alot of people see's her as a secondary character and not a primary one. She doesn't get the credit that she deserves, but I'm only defending her because she's my favorite character more than any other in Michael's novels.

I agree with Scarecrow and Bizzo.  Love Rachel Walling; think she deserves her own book and to be with Jack (where she was last time I read SCARECROW....

Chrissy you should read The Scarecrow. I won't give away any spoilors but Rachel was in it along with Jack. I will say that much. I think you would really enjoy it. Michael writes alot of exciting thrillers that keep you guessing.

TO EVERYONE ON THIS BOARD--
Please feel free to contact me directly if you feel a post is a spoiler and I can add the spoiler warning to it. Please do not use this space to lecture other forum members. This entire topic has spoilers about Rachel in it for people who have not read these books yet. So it could all be considered a spoiler. It is all about perspective. Let's be a little kinder to each other. Thank you.

I see Rachael Stirling (Diana Rigg's daughter) as Rachel Walling. Miss Stirling is stunning, looks intelligent, and is a talented actress.
