As a huge Harry Bosch fan, I was so disappointed to read The Late Show. From the very beginning, it seemed that the author has dumbed down his writing as if fans of a female detective would not be able to appreciate the gritty, dense, intelligent writing in the Bosch series. Everything she does, every choice she makes, seems to be explained to death-this was never the case in the Bosch series - we were assumed to have a modicum of understanding and intelligence. I stopped halfway through because the book lacks the richness and atmosphere that characterized the Bosch series. I had looked forward to another exciting series and I am so disappointed!

You are completely wrong. Renee is a terrific new character, and is not a Bosch clone. She has her own skills and methods, her own back-story, and women's difficulties in the male-dominated police force and government.

The mysteries are great fun, and her independence and care are in "mission territory" - just the kind of heroine we crave.

I wish MC would concentrate on detective stories based in Los Angeles with organic character and not create characters that keep the PC police happy.

I have read and loved all the Harry Bosch books, but was very disappointed by "The Late Show".  I could not relate to or have any symphathetic feelings for Renee Ballard.  I had to make myself finish it! I got really tired of all the "F words".  If you had left out those words, the book would likely have been half as long. So glad there is another Harry Bosch coming out this fall - I will not buy or read another Renee Ballard book.  Please find a way to keep Harry going strong.

I so did not like Renee Ballard - could not relate to her - I do not want to know her at all!  I will not buy or  read another book with Renee as the main character or  even mentioned in another book!  Please find a way to keep Harry Bosch alive and active, and also Mickey Haller.  Why did you stop writing him as a character?  Please no more Renee!!!!!!

I very much enjoyed Michael's new champion, Renee Ballard. It's courageous for him to write a woman officer/detective, with her own clear personna and history.

If you don't enjoy this new series, no one's forcing you to read them. I will be reading both Harry and Renee, and I wish Michael good luck and good fun.
