Betty, I'm excited to watch it, I like to wait until the season is done so I can watch multiple episodes per night. So I'll be watching it soon.

We started The Night Of last night and it was riveting. The finale is on Sunday so we plan to watch all 8 episodes in about a week.

Like the finale of The Night Of very much, great show. I would rate it about 4th for this year behind Fargo Season 2, The Americans Season 4 and Better Call Saul Season 2. Mr. Robot and Game of Thrones would be in the top 6 too.

Actually it was John Stone, I kept thinking of Joe Pike's buddy. The spelling is different and of course the characters are a bit different.

At the cottage we ended up choosing The Fall.............a crime drama set in Northern Ireland starring Gillian Anderson from the X-Files, and James Dornan from the Grey movies, and it was excellent. We watched the first 2 seasons.......11 episodes overall, and look forward to the 3rd season which I think is due out later this year.

Then we tried Luther, an English cop show starring Idris Elba.  We have watched 4 episodes and have really liked it too.

Excellent choices Tiger, my wife and I started Stranger Things on Netflix. It was too strange for her but I'm loving it.

finished The Night Of last night, and like the rest of you enjoyed it very much.  HBO really does a good job of getting great actors for their shows, even for minor parts the acting is still top notch.  of course, I would venture that good writing helps as well, but this is one thing I certainly notice with their dramas I watch.  and nice to see some older actors and how can I say, less conventionally attractive actors (no offense john t) getting some good roles.  one thing I find with network dramas is that when casting these shows they seem to go for attractive first, then acting chops second.  of course not in every case, but seems like more often than not and that takes the believability factor down a notch for me.  which is also why I think I have enjoyed some British dramas as well, they seem to cast real looking people for their parts which helps a lot I think.  case in point is the very excellent Happy Valley show from the BBC that is available here on Netflix.  really good gritty police drama featuring an older female constable who looks like a real person not a former model.  2 good 6 episode seasons that are worth checking out.

and Tiger, sounds like you had a good holiday.  I have heard of the Fall, but when friends were describing it to us I think the apparently disturbing subject matter turned my wife off and we likely won't get to it.  Luther however is a great drama and I enjoyed all the seasons, tho the last one was only 2 episodes and not quite as good as the others.  Idris Elba is a force and deserves an Emmy.

Mystic,
I agree with your comment re the quality of acting with HBO shows. BTW I think fans of Stephen King would like Stranger Things.

With the 4th and final season of Rectify starting next week I decided to re-watch the first 3 seasons with my wife who has not seen them. Wow, this reminded me of how great this show is. It can be slow but the payoff is immense. The only show I can compare it to is Six Feet Under which is one of my all-time favorites. The first 3 seasons are now available on Netflix, check it out, you won't be disappointed if you love beautiful cinematography, stellar acting, deep character development, a sly sense of humor and explorations of complex themes and relationships.

Just 4 reviews so far but season 4 of Rectify is rated a perfect 100 by all four. Can;t wait to start watching it, wish it was going another season or 2.

Finished watching The Americans last night, what a great show! May be in my top 5 with Breaking Bad, Six Feet Under, Rectify, Sopranos and The Wire. Oops that's 6 ;)
