I read 163 books, 94 of them were audiobooks.

My absolute favorites were (in no particular order, along with some commentary):

Desperation Road by Michael Farris Smith
She Rides Shotgun by Jordan Harper
(Both new authors for me and I can't wait to see what's next from each of them)
The Weight of This World by David Joy (For a guy named Joy, he writes some heavy stuff)
Since We Fell by Dennis Lehane (something a little different from Lehane and I loved it)
Afterlife by Marcus Sakey (I'm not sure what to say about this one except, read it with an open mind)
Two Kinds of Truth by Michael Connelly (Harry at his best)

Honorable mention:

Glass Houses by Louise Penny (Her characters and writing are just amazing)
The Ridge by John Rector (not like anything he's written so far and it worked for me)
When the English Fall by David Williams (not a crime novel or thriller; a post-apocalyptic story about an Amish family)

Some of these will, of course, end up on my list for the Golden Post Award. I believe all of them were 2017 releases.

IMO Two Kinds Of Truth is MC's best book since The Burning Room. Absolutely loved it!

Betty, I guess I better read Afterlife because the rest of your favorites were on my top 10 list. In addition I had:
Everything You Want Me to Be by Mindy Mejia
Child Finder by Rene Denefeld
The Deep Dark Descending by Allen Eskenes
If the Creek Don't Rise by Leah Weiss (another amazing new Appalachian writer)
The Late Show by MC
