Thanks again Rockman, I got it! I take it this is one of a series and I'll need to get the others first, yeah?

As far as I know this one is a standalone and not part of a series.

I've never heard of this author but the book sounds really good and the price is right.  Thanks for the tip, Rockman.

I think it is a worthwhile read and kind of nice to branch out a little with something from South Africa. I think the only two SA authors I've read are Roger Smith and Deon Meyer.

Got this note from Blasted Heath today. I have not read anything by Douglas Lindsay yet, but hope to get around to one of them soon.

Just a quick heads-up that THE LONG MIDNIGHT OF BARNEY THOMSON, the first novel in Douglas Lindsay's brilliant Barney series, is free today and tomorrow on Amazon

Amazon currently offering a two books in one for free......Dave Zeltserman's 'Dying Memories' along with 'Godchild' by Vincent Zandri. I haven't read Zandri, but Zeltserman has written some excellent books.

Just in case someone may have missed it previously. 'Hurt Machine' by Reed Farrel Coleman is still being offered for free.

'Best American Mystery Stories 2011' compiled by Harlan Coben and Otto Penzler is $1.99 today only on Amazon/Kindle. Good ratings including a starred review by Publisher's Weekly so I figured what the heck.

I'm about in the middle of the eBook version of The Long Midnight of Barney Thomson that came from Amazon. It's a pretty funny but dark plot so far. The way this story is going, it's hard to believe that there could be more than one book in this story line. We'll have to see where the plot takes me. It was free at the time, thanks to the tip from Rockman.

Glad to hear it's going fairly well at least. Will be interested to hear the final verdict when you finish it.

This collection includes thirteen lean and mean stories from the fingertips of Garnett Elliott, Glenn Gray, John Hornor Jacobs, Patricia Abbott, Thomas Pluck, Brad Green, Ron Earl Phillips, Kent Gowran, Amy Grech, Benoit Lelievre, Kieran Shea, David Cranmer, and Wayne D. I've looked at that author a few times myself but I have so much to read now that I passed on the books.  However, this may be too good to pass up.

Rockman, I love these updates and appreciate them very much.
