Honestly, I am pretty new to the whole Bosch / Michael Connelly thing.

I found the series on Amazon Prime about a year ago and liked the Bosch character so I started listening to the books on Audible. I started with Two Kinds of Truth and have been working through Michael Connelly's books ever since.

My wife thinks I am crazy, but I have been trying to track down ALL of Michael Connelly's writings and am having a hard time locating something that I read about in the Wikipedia listing for Michael Connelly:

"Homicide Special" – in The Drop (2011); a Harry Bosch story written exclusively for copies of The Drop sold in Waterstones stores

Does any one know of a source where I can get access to this short story?

Thanks, in advance, for any help you can give.

I cannot find "Homicide Special" anywhere, either, sorry.

Nice review.

I appreciate your effort in looking around for the short story.

It looks like I can buy the paperback from Waterstones, but my guess is that it isn't going to have the short story in that edition.

I'll keep scouring the web.

Thanks.

Well, it was expensive, but a copy of one of the Waterstone's Special Editions was located and my kids had it shipped from England and gave it to me for Father's Day.
It's even signed by Michael Connelly.
So, I have now read the short story "Homicide Special."

I'm still in process of collecting all of the novels, but I'm getting there.
As far as short stories are concerned, I don't know why I was always working from lists published on other websites when this one was available:
https://www.michaelconnelly.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Printable-Short-Story-List-2.pdf
After looking through this list I found that I had quite a few of them, but I was missing a few short stories that were not on other lists.
I found one from the French newspaper Le Figaro available online and was wondering if any one else had run across it.

I had to have Google translate it for me, so I don't think the English was perfect, but it was definitely understandable.
Enjoy!

Well done! Yes, it's definitely worth it to track down the short stories. Perhaps Michael and Jane (hello, Jane!) could confirm and possibly get an English translation for us to enjoy?

Congrats on the signed edition from the UK!

Cheers!

Thanks!
It's definitely a collector's edition, and I enjoy Mr. Connelly's work enough to not feel too guilty about the expense to my kids.

Hi,

A few years ago I decided to do the same and tried to compile every short story by Michael Connelly. Homicide Special was obviously the hardest, but I managed to contact someone in England who photocopied it and mailed it to me in Spain (without knowing me at all).

The list on Michael Connelly's page has been updated over the years, but every now and then I check for new additions. I've just found out about Mount Olympus, so I'll add it to my collection. I can try to translate into English (I do speak French), but I'm afraid a translation into French and then back into English (made by a Spaniard) will be less than perfect, so hopefully it will be published in English at some point.

Anyway, if you are still missing any of the short stories, let me know and I can send it to you.

Looking forward to The Night Fire!

I think I have access to all of them or they are coming in the mail soon, so I believe I am covered, thank you.
The ones that were added to my list when I discovered the comprehensive list that Jane made available through the website were:
"The Third Panel" which I now have in print.
"Murder on Mount Olympus" which we have already discussed.
And "Short Cut" which I now have in print. I justified this purchase as it was the only one that I am aware of that he has written for children and my youngest still fits into the 9-12 target demographic.
That book also made me aware that there is a child author writing under the pen name Pseudonymous Bosch, which I thought was odd, but I guess it's another shout out to the artist Hieronymus Bosch.

I got an unusual e-mail requesting info about locating the Waterstones edition that I found and I want to make sure that the response gets back to the sender, so I want to post the same information here just in case.
I found the Waterstones editions on Abebooks.com.
I just looked again and found a couple that should have Homicide Special.
There is a little circle on the cover that indicates it is a Waterstones edition.
Here are the links I found:
