What does everyone think? Traffic is way down on this site and I think the format is at least part of the issue.

One thing about the forum here is the organisation of thoughts and replies.

Facebook et al are a long timelines into the past, without categories and sub-categories, without a sense of history or permanence.

Now I honestly don't know if that’s important to the members here, but we should consider it.

Perhaps there's a popular social media platform that’s more like the forum here?

Yes  ...

I would suggest facebook, altho they are doing different
rhythms now but we would be able to join or follow  ... Who would set this up or admin ?

Why aren't people posting ? I have slowed down on reading due to various reasons  ...

What does Jane think ?

To be clear I am only thinking about the Other Recommended Authors category and specifically the dozen or so people that post/posted often. I probably should have posted this in a Golden Post thread or other well-used thread.

Yes, sorry guys, I’m guilty of not posting here as often as I used to. I have cut back a lot with social media and on line stuff, I continue with Goodreads as it’s vital for tracking my books etc and it lets me see what you guys are reading (which is important to me) and you can see what I’m reading, having said that, this is a great format and I still check in, I just don’t post like I used to.

I love this format because it is dedicated to Michael and Michael alone.  I would not go to facebook or other social media to read or write about him, his books, etc.  this is where I like to go and I like and appreciate Jane's postings.  please let's just keep this the way it is.

Sorry, my post was confusing, nothing is going to change in the structure of this website. I was talking about 10-12 people migrating our discussion of other authors to a different site.

Hi, I am like Jackmeister in that I don't post as much as I used to, but I do check in from time to time.

as for Facebook, I am not a member and don't plan on becoming one, but like Jackie I keep up with Goodreads and post my ratings there and take note of all of your 4 and 5 star ratings and reviews.

just don't seem to have the time to post my rambling reviews too much on here.  I haven't been wowed by too many books lately, but have definitely enjoyed my reading time.  getting on a bit of a Pelecanos kick as you may have noticed...

good.  I understand.  but since this is the only author site I ever ever post to, I would not be interested in looking at other authors.  I read a lot, my house is floor to ceiling books, but Michael is my all time favorite mystery/thriller writer and I always order all his books in advance and have read every one of them and, even though they don't follow the books, I also binge watched all of he Bosch series.  Michael also signed a number of my first editions which I treasure.  we have introduced our adult grandsons to his books and they are now hooked as well.  happy days!

.

travis,   yes i agree.  would love to see our main core of folks move over to goodreads or facebook.   i already follow most of the group you are talking about over on goodreads,  goodreads groups are easy enough to create and join,   and we are already going there to review/rate books and i think not having to come to a second site all the time may increase the interest again.   i really miss the postings of this group of people,  and if everyone is like myself i make sure i keep up with goodreads and sometimes tend to skip this site because of lack of time.

create a group in goodreads name it Golden Post,  just an idea.....

Just like Mysticpt, I am not a member of Facebook but check Goodreads daily.....I think our answer lies in there.

yea i agree, goodreads groups are pretty nice,   they will send out emails with any activity for the week.   so you miss nothing, and you dont even need to go tot he site to see what folks are doing.

I enjoy our group very much. Do wish we could build the base with some quality newbies but would want to maintain our scope of genre. Other sites I visit on FB are too broad and I am not as invested. Scene of the Crime is the one I visit most for anybody interested.
