This has not been a great year for me for GP reads. Strangely only 2 of my first 26 books in 2018 were published in 2018. But since then I've read 12 2018 books in a row!

I really only have 2 books worthy of a nomination
A Perfect Shot by Robin Yocum
Snap by Belinda Bauer

2 books that are fun but flawed, get honorable mentions
The Line that Held Us by David Joy
A Noise Downstairs by Linwood Barclay

I'm really hoping that The Shadows We Hide or Where Crawdads Sing blows my socks off and becomes my book of the year.

I started A Perfect Shot so I'd be fine reading that one as I think a couple in the group liked it.

At this point, I am putting Alter Ego by Brian Freeman as my favorite.  I need to ask him what's coming for Stride next as I know nothing and don't see anything on Amazon (ie title, cover, plot).  I think he is starting to talk about it as his book events but he hasn't gotten close enough to Chicago for me to attend one recently.  An interesting tidbit recently was when I told him Stride needed a scene at Split Rock Lighthouse in MN because it is an awesome, beautiful place.  He told me that there was a scene in the first draft of Immoral (Stride #1) which is currently my favorite all-time book but he had to cut it by about 70,000 words and that scene didn't make the final draft.  So it was bittersweet that I suggested it then found out it kinda is in my favorite book - maybe he'll get Stride back there in a future book.
